"A journey is best
measured in friends
rather than miles”

What got you into videography and which is your favorite style? I always liked the tech side of photos and videos, especially for which concerns drones and smartphones.
A few years ago I started to experiment a bit, taking some simple smartphone shots, pushing and evolving my creative side. I opened a blog page to publish my photos (most of them related to my weekend trekking and travels).

After that, I discovered that I liked video more than photography. That’s the reason why 2 years ago I decided to buy a semi-professional drone (DJI Mavic Air), to let my passion go with the flow.
Since that time, I began to realize a lot of videos about my travel adventures (most of them regarding trekking around dolomites and local mountains).

After that, I started to be noticed for my videos and I was involved in a project for a luxury sailing boat agency (Ashley Cruise) based in Sicily, for which I realized a couple of promo videos, editing sequences already filmed.

On top of this, in April 2018 I’ve been in Pakistan for 18 days to shoot a short movie for Epic BackPacker Tours Travel Agency, the company of my friend Chris Lininger,  an american guy that I met during my trip in Nepal.
After that, I was involved in a project to shoot a couple of videos with another guy (Ralph Cope, a friend of Chris, owner of another travel agency - Broke Backpacker Tours) in a couple of Italian cities as Florence and Rome.

My favourite editing style is quite clean, not too fancy transitions (love in camera seamless transitions more) even if I like to use any kind of dissolve and sometimes Sam Kolder Style (I mean luma key, speed ramp and zoom blur direction transitions).

The most time consuming activities in my work flow are:
  • to select the proper soundtrack for the video (it has to fit perfectly with the mood that you want to transmit and with the story that you want to tell), that can be used in social media without being blocked by copyright issues.
  • to cut footage - trying to be not emotionally involved with the clips and trying to create a video with a clean flow with the right length.
This procedure can be difficult sometimes, especially when you are “forced” to remove something for a better video result (it also depends on which audience the video is prepared for) that counts for you.

My style is improving day by day: I’m becoming "obsessed", keeping only drone movements that are perfect, and even if I have more experience than in the past, I want to apply all my knowledge to prepare a video that takes me more time than in the past.

About droning, I’m thinking of selling my Mavic Air to upgrade to Mavic Air 2: this would help me a lot to improve the final result of my projects.

Working as an IT consultant full-time the available time is not that much, but I’m always trying to do my best into weekends and holidays.

What has been your favorite (shooting) travel/adventure and why: Emotionally speaking the adventure that I loved the most was the five lakes trekking around Brenta Group in 2018. It was my first “serious” drone video, made as a semi-professional video maker, just for fun!

Where will your love of adventure take you next? I'm really keen to be in Aconcagua, Machu Picchu, Indonesia, or Malesia soon.
Maybe I will be involved again to do K2 Base Camp Trek this summer (July) for a short movie collaboration with Gray at Epic Backpackers Tour again - I said maybe just because of COVID-19 restriction reasons. Let's see!

Favorite place/moment: My best trip ever was in Nepal in 2017, where I did Annapurna Circuit Trek, an insane path of 160km in just 11 days with 20K of total ascending.

Any goals / visions for the future?
I really hope to find a way to have enough passive income (of course not for free lol) to deserve freedom to find what I love most and then do what I love most, to better express myself: for example testing last technology, doing promotional video, in my best social way, maybe using a youtube channel.
